Box Card

I decided to try another card using 100 movable parts cd . After I had it all finished and sat back to take a look at it I thought oh no not again, another birthday card that looks like a Christmas card.  Hopefully my sister will like it anyway, I was going for a vintage feel, the flowers were all glitter stickers that I backed with designer paper so you can see color through them.

Hot off the press -- 100 Movable parts cd (link above)
Colorbok -- Rosewood papers (front and inside)
Spellbinders -- A2 matting basics A, Decorative Labels 8 and Foliage Flourish dies
Paper studio -- Glitter flower burst, Glitter flower pots and glittered butterflies stickers
Stampendous -- Orchid greetings(front) and Birthday assortment (inside sentiment)
Craftaroo -- Rhinestone (flower centers)
Martha Stewart -- Border punch (inside)

Here is a picture of it opened to see the box effect you get when opening the card, it closes flat for mailing.

Here is a picture looking down on the card while open:

I changed the inside a little bit, they give you measurements to cut the inside window, I used a spellbinders die instead that was almost the same measurements and instead of centering it on the inside I cut it closer to the top to have the bottom for signing but I ended up putting more stickers there and added my signature to the inside on the other side.

I went for my first walk since my procedure on Monday and my foot did well, it took me about 5 minutes longer to walk the same distance so I did walk it a little slower but not bad.  It is very bruised in the area but the pain is very tolerable.  The toe that is very bruised seems to be good, one of them doesn't look any different at all, so that is disappointing, hopefully it will get better over time, I have a few more weeks before seeing him again so I have a while to see what he thinks about it.

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts my way.

Thanks for stopping by also,
Connie

Play Ball

My great nephew is turning 9 and he is in quite a bit of sports, including running, he ran his first 5k this past summer, I went to my stickers to find a sports theme and settled on these stickers, I applied them to cardstock and cut them out so I could add some foam adhesives to give a bit of dimension.

Dimple street gang-- sports boy stickers
My mind's eye -- Boy crazy paper
Spellbinders -- Standard circle lg, inverted scalloped circles and A2 curverd borders one dies
Taylored Expressions -- Whimsy #s die (9)

I am keeping this short I had surgery today on the tendons in three of my toes on my right foot, hoping it takes care of my hammer toe situation instead of having to have pins put in my toes, sure hope this works don't want to have the other surgery, you have to be out for a long time and I really want to be able to keep up my walking.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

The simple things

Sorry I am so late in posting, it has been quite a week. Yesterday was a very humid day, hard to breathe when we went for our walk, after a mile and a half I was feeling very bad, don't know if it was from the heat or something else. I appreciate you coming by even with such big breaks between my posting.

I used a combo of distress markers and inks to watercolor this image.

Art Impression-- Lake house window stamp
DCWV-- Old World Stack
Spellbinders -- Classic Square lg and Labels 22
Forever in time -- buttons
DMC-- Green thread

I have some very hard news to share with you, our friend, Dorcas who had surgery on her heart and then had problems breathing, has died.  Her husband tells us that she was so full of hope and looking so forward to feeling better after her surgery.  I thank all of those who have prayed for her, it means so much to me and if you would like to pray for her Husband Dave who is facing such a great loss I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
Connie

Pinterest inspiration card

My daughter and son in law left today and are heading to my SIL's parents house to visit for another week before their classes start up again.  I had started a card the other day but after they left today I realized it was the 15th and I needed an inspiration card for today.  I had nothing in mind from the blogs I follow so I decided to do a card that I have in my cards folder on pinterest.  Of course when I clicked on the image I had pinned it didn't lead me to the blog, but thank goodness the girl had a watermark of her blog so I will share that, I tried looking for the card for a little while but  couldn't find it, wanted to get this posted so I will look later and try to find the link for you.

I will have to say her card had big white sunflowers embossed on it, and she colored it all in yellow, I decided to use a few different inks and I also added sentiment to it.

Here is the link to her blog .

Hero Arts-- sunflower stamp embossed with white embossing powder
Distress inks :
Vintage photo
Wild Honey
Mustard seed
Bundled sage

Ribbon
Fiskar sentiment stamp
Spellbinder -- Lacey ovals die
DCWV  -- Card base

I wasn't going to share my first card but I decided to anyway, I am going to take off the sentiment tag and add another with brown ink, the orange ink I had didn't  go well with the ribbon and it isn't dark enough for me. Also the first card I used clear embossing powder by mistake and I really liked it better in white embossing powder.

Hope you all have a great start to your weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by,

Connie

Special delivery

With this card I am once again ahead in my card making. I have a little bit of a break in Birthday's so I get a chance to catch up a bit, which is good since I have alot of birthday's in the fall months.

When I saw this image I thought this would be great for so many different type cards, and with this sentiment I thought it would be great for a birthday.

I colored the image and cut out the shapes yesterday and when I went to put it together today I so wished I would have colored her dress a different color, I know you can't tell but I used different blues, they just turned out looking alot alike.  I will have to use this as a learning experiment.

Stampavie -- Mailing letters stamp, colored w/markers
Spellbinders -- Standard circle lg, noble rectangles and Labels four dies
Stamps of Life -- postmarks 2 stamp, sentiment
Want 2 scrap -- pearls (corners)

We are having a nice visit with our daughter and son in law, whenever they have meetings to attend or friends they are meeting up with I try to make my way in the craft room, so hopefully I will have another card in a couple of days :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your week is getting off to a great start!

U R Cool

My son in laws birthday is tomorrow and they are home from North Carolina visiting for a week, so we are going to take him out for his birthday tomorrow, and so I thought I had better get his card posted today since I don't know how much we will be doing tomorrow.

I found this paper pack and when I saw the license plate was from North Carolina I decided to use this piece.  The torn strip is part of the paper too it is one piece, I just added a couple stamps and some nuts and gears to give it a mechanical feel.  My hubby didn't really care for this card, but I was trying to get it done before they came home, and I wasn't feeling well this day, but thought I would share anyway.  The card measures 4"x6"

Recollections -- Awesome boy paper
Studio G-- Sentiment stamps
Prima-- Tiny Junkyard findings trinkets (nuts)

My hubby has a bin with a bunch of pre cut gear dies, so I am not sure which brands they are.

I have an update about Dorcas, her husband said that she has fluid in the tissues of her lungs and just can't seem to get rid of it, and that he feels this is going to be a very long road of recovery.

Hope you enjoy a fantastic weekend,
Connie

It's your day...celebrate

Every now and then you just have to do a real girly card and my friend at church will appreciate this, at least I hope :)

Prima -- Doily die
Memory Box-- Fresh Foliage die
DCWV -- The Primrose Stack
Pin and small roses are from a RAK, I added my own beads to it that I found at flea market
Spellbinders -- Rose collection die for the big rose, shaped with stylus, sprayed with tattered  rose glimmer mist and ink sponging
Stamps of life -- postmarks 2 stamps sentiment on tag that came from paper pack
Plastic baby breaths
Dew drops

I so enjoy when I get to do girly cards, do you make cards to suit the person your making them for or do you just make the kind you enjoy making?

We are getting some much needed rain this morning, figures I watered my garden last night because it was getting so dry, it seems to never fail.

Hope your week is off to a good start!
Thanks so much for taking the time out to stop by and I apprecaite when you let me know you have been here.

ODBDSLC210

I know can you believe I have posted 3 days in a row, I even shocked myself.

Our Daily Bread is now doing challenges that last for 2 weeks, and it finally took me almost the whole two weeks to get to this but I made it before the deadline which is tomorrow.  You can find out the details HERE on their blog .

I needed a Birthday card for my oldest brother who is 14 years older than me.  They go camping quite a bit in Michigan over the summer, so I went with this image that will remind him of the beautiful sunsets on the Lake over the summer.  That is one of the main things we miss about Michigan, they have Awesome camping!

The challenge was to use stencils or sponging on your card and I went with using sponging for all the coloring on this, using distress inks and Tim Holtz sponge applicators, I have both the rectangle and round ones now and I will have to say I do love the round ones.

Our Daily Bread designs-- The Mighty Sea, for image and sentiment
Distress inks for sponging -- Spiced Marmalade, mustard seed, tumbled glass, wild honey and tea dye inks
Spellbinders -- A2 mattting basics B, A2 Distressed edges dies
My mind's eye -- the sweetest thing
DCWV -- cardstock

I have been walking around a mile or little more when I walk, today I went 2 and 7/10 of a mile, so close to making 3 miles.  My knees and my back hurt but it felt so good to accomplish that.

Hope this weekend your able to get out and do something you haven't done in awhile :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

Tosh's Inspiration

I can't believe how fast these inspiration posts keep sneaking up on me, I started this one yesterday and finished it just a few minutes ago, but it is still the 1st so I am not late :)

I have been following Tosh for a few years now, I just love her style, and as you go through her blog you will see she does Beautiful work, every card has some kind of inspiration for you. This card HERE is the one I picked for my card today.  I loved the shading and the color she used on her flowers, I was so tempted to use the same colors and even border die but I made myself change it up a bit.

I decided to go with a summer feel to the card.

Inkadinkado -- Beauty stems from here, colored w/markers
Spellbinders -- A2 Curved Borders One
Distress inks -- Mustard seed and Antique linen
Basic Grey -- Lilykate paper
Stamps of Life -- Birthday sentiment stamp
Martha Stewart -- Tag punch
String
Butterfly gem
Craftaroo -- Rhinestones, colored w/marker

If you haven't already seen Tosh's blog I hope you take the time to stop by and check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend,

Connie
