Happy Halloween

I only did this one  Halloween card for my daughter and son in law so I could send some goodies to them, I was running behind once again, really what is new about that and so I just went to this paper pack, found a page that had a great scene and just added a couple things to it and I was done, one of those very quick and easy cards.  We still hand out candy it is so cute to see the costumes that the kids come up with.

I think this card measured something like5x6.  The strip on the side with the words was the back side of this strip of paper, I just cut it off to fit on the card base and then glued it to the front.  I added some black diamond stickles to the bats and birds in the picture.  The two pumpkins at the bottom are an EK Success punch, had to add two for the two of them :)  The paper is from Echo Park paper co. and it is the Apothecary Emporium paper pack.

We have been in a rain pattern here for a few days, may not have too many kids tonight.  Yesterday we had a little bit of a break so my hubby and I got out and trimmed all our bushes so that we would be ready to decorate the outside with lights this coming Christmas season.  We usually put up our lights up shortly after Thanksgiving when we have our first nice day.

I hope your staying dry wherever you are,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

30 Blessed Years

Today is our 30th Anniversary.  I feel so blessed to have shared these past 30 years with the most wonderful, caring, supportive and Loving husband a girl could hope to have.  We met when we were 16 years old, so I feel like we grew up together. Praying that God gives us at least another 30 years to be together, so thankful that He has been by our side along this life's journey.

I was lucky enough to win 4 sets of Papertrey ink stamps from Moxie Fab World a couple of months ago and I used one of those sets on this card.

Papertrey ink -- Live Love Life stamp set for all images and sentiments
Spellbinders -- Lace hearts die
BasicGrey -- Sugar rush paper pack
Fiskars --  corner punch
Provocraft -- decorative scissors (border)
heart gem

My hubby took the day off from work so I am off to spend the day with him.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment,

Connie

Fall on the farm

Love these farm scenes, I was planning on putting some flower soft on the tree in the left hand corner and after I had it mailed I realized I never did that :(

Northwoods Rubber Stamps -- colored w/markers
g.c.d. -- Loverly papers
Burlap strip I added walnut stain distress ink to make it a little darker
Distressing around the edges of the card then added more walnut stain
Hero Art -- Its your day sentiment stamp set
Ki -- metal accents

I also took a close up shoot of just the scene.

I mounted the image onto a piece of kraft cardstock that was also inked with the walnut stain distress inks.
Think it would have looked better with the flower soft like I was planning, that is what I get for being so close to the time I have to send out my cards, hoping this made it to my nephew by his birthday.

Can you believe I managed to do this whole card without using one die, that doesn't happen to often.  I think my die cutting machines get a lot of work out :)

My sister in law from Michigan is coming today so I had better get back to the last minute things I want to get done.  I will have to see about posting more pics of the trip when I have more time.

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful Fall weekend,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Pocket Card

Good Morning, time just keeps slipping away from me, I feel like my house still isn't straightened out and I can't seem to get caught up, but I wanted to stop in and update the blog and share some pictures from our vacation.

First I made a pocket card, there were instructions in the Quick Cards, October 2013 Magazine and once again they were all in metric, why oh why didn't I learn that in school, I found a chart on line but you just can't get things perfect that way, anyway, I think it turned out ok even though it may not be exactly how theirs looks :)

The first picture is with the tag still inside the folded card base.  I had to lean it up it won't stand on it's own.   The second picture is with the tag out of the base.

Papertrey Ink -- Text Style, Hodge Podge papers
Heartfelt Creations -- Vintage Floret die
Spellbinders -- Back to basics tags die
Dew drop for center of flower
Martha Stewart -- leaves punches
Stampendous -- Birthday Assortment sentiment stamps
Marvy -- Scalloped Punch for tab on tag
Button from stash as well as crochet thread

Now here are some pictures of our trip, this was all taken on our first day there.

This is of Lake Gogebic, it is the largest inland lake in the U.P. of Michigan

You can see Lake Superior through the trees here, just look at all those great colors, greens, blues, tans and oranges.  I just love to sit and listen to the waves crashing on to the shore, it is so peaceful to me.

In the Porcupine Mountains they have a look out they call Lake of the clouds and this is the view from the look out.  It just puts you in Awe of just how wonderful God's creation is, just takes my breathe away.

Well I don't want to over due the pictures for you so maybe I will post a little with each new card I post.

I hope your week is off to a great start,
Thanks so much for taking the time out to stop by, and leaving your comments it means a lot,

Connie

Back Home

Hi everyone, I was away for a week celebrating our 30th Anniversary with my Hubby.  It isn't actually until the end of the month but we went a few weeks early so that we could enjoy the Beautiful Fall colors in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  I hadn't been up there since I was a teenager and went with my parents and my hubby couldn't remember when he had been up there last.

You can't help but be in Awe of God's Awesome creation while up there in all the woods and the colors were just Amazing, in places it had already gone but on the whole it was just perfect, we made our way from one end to the other, put almost 2,000 miles on our car, I didn't want to come back, but our little furbabies were so happy to be home again :)

Now onto the card that I sent to my nephew before we left for our trip.

Technique Tuesday-- All aboard stamp set, colored with markers
DCWV -- Wild Splendor stack paper
Christina Renee-- Ruler stamp, shading with ink
Taylored expression-- sprockets dies, cut out of DCWV, Metallic stack paper
Spellbinders -- Classic Square and Lg classic inverted square dies
Vellum
Hero Art -- Birthday messages

We just arrived home yesterday so I haven't had time yet to even look at the pictures we took but if there is anything good I will share them in my next post.

I hope you all enjoy a great weekend.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

All Stamping

Yep I made a card with no designer or patterned paper, that just doesn't happen very often with me.  I have another great nephew turning 13.  September and October are the two months that I have to make a lot of masculine cards, I have a lot of guys born in those two months, so get ready for masculine cards coming up.

I started off with a DCWV Textured card base, stamped Studio G stars stamp in two sizes for the background. The sentiments and baseballs are also studio G stamps sets, after I stamped the sentiment and balls I decided it was too plain so I got out my Martha Stewart border punch and added that to both sides.
I added some faux red stitching on the balls they were a little too plain for me
Spellbinders, Lg Deckled Rectangles die was used to cut out the make a wish sentiment. Did a little bit of shading with ink while the paper was still in the die.

Fall has arrived, it has been absolutely gorgeous here.  Temps in the 70's during the day getting down to the high 50's at night, just perfect :)

Hope your enjoying the Autumn weather wherever you are.

ODBD World Card Making Day 2013

Check out Our Daily Bread Designs celebration of World card making day HERE .  By participating you can get a 20% off your next purchase of their stamps.

I love this stamp of a lighthouse, they have wonderful sentiments/verses to go with it but since I wanted to do a Birthday card for my brother in law I had to use a different stamp set for the sentiment.

Our Daily Bread Designs --- Keep my lamp burning stamp set, colored with markers
BasicGrey -- Basics white and Basics Kraft paper pads
DCWV -- Earth tones Mat stacks
Spellbinders -- A2 matting basics A and back to basics tags dies
Doodlebug designs-- sentiment stamp
Bazzill basics papers-- brads
Ki -- metal accents
Twine

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend and that the week holds many blessings for you,

Connie

P.S.  I made a mistake on my card, not until after posting did I go back to add my link did I read that you can only use all ODBD stamps on your card, so this card is disqualified because I used a sentiment stamp from a different company.  Just wanted to point that out incase you would like to join along in the celebration!

Recycle

Can you find what recycle item I used on this card?  I used a sketch from My Favorite Things for this card and when I was wondering what I would use for the strips I looked over at my empty Puffs tissue box and thought I could use that it is a pretty design, so I looked through my papers and found some I thought would work with it.

You can see the picture cast a bit of a shine on the tissue box strip.  While our Michaels was rearranging their store they had a bunch of their stamps quite cheap and I liked the collage look of this one so I picked it up.

DCWV-- Linen Closet paper
Hampton Art -- stamp
Spellbinders -- Classic Rectangles, Eyelet circles and Flower bouquet dies
Inking and shading done with Vintage photo distress ink
Liquid Pearls -- Copper pearl

I have saved a few boxes because I like the pattern so you may see some more tissue boxes on my cards :)  Maybe you will be inspired to look around and see what you would like to recycle and put on your cards.

Our Sunday School class is going out to a family run farm here in the area called Eckerts tomorrow night.  They have all kinds of family acitivities, apple and pumpkin picking,  they shoot pumpkins out of a cannon, have pig races, pony rides ect.  At the end of the evening they have fire pits that you can rent for your groups and we all get together roast hot dogs and have great fellowship. There is rain in the forecast so I am hoping it isn't very hard or very long.

Hope you have something wonderful planned for this fall weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by,

Connie

Fence w/flowers

This was  a really last minute card to make.  It will be nice when I am finally caught up, LOL!
I used already made things for this card.  The fence was one I cut from a Cricut cartridge some time ago and never ended up using it, I didn't have the time to cut out the flowers that actually go with it, so I took Prima flowers and layered them and added them to the fence. If you would like to know which cartridge this fence comes from I could look it up for you.

Cricut cartridge -- fence
Prima -- Flowers
Rasberry Road Designs -- Love lives here paper pack
Martha Stewart -- Leaves and tag punches
Fiskars -- Cloud Punch (one has dimensional adhesive to it
Sentiment was hand written

It is once again getting hot out we have been in the 80's the last few days but they are telling us we will be getting down into the 60's this weekend.  I need to head out and help my hubby with the lawn.
Hope you all are enjoying a great week.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, it is very appreciated!
